In Australia, National Mental Health Month is an initiative of the Mental Health Foundation (MHFA) to advocate for and raise awareness of Australian Mental Health. It is an important time when the Australian community comes together to raise awareness.
Every year, the National Mental Health Month Awareness Campaign is raising awareness for mental health. This theme highlights the gravity of the topic of mental health, and how important it is to address in the Australian community.
What is Mental Health?
According to the World Health Organization, their definition of mental health is “a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.”
How can I take care of my own mental health and wellbeing?
As we know that caring for people is a rewarding job however at times it can be stressful and emotional. Developing self-awareness and setting up self-care strategies can protect us against burnout and help us maintain a healthy balance in our own life. Self-care is a range of skills, information, and attitudes that we can use to protect and maintain our emotional, psychological and physical health and well-being.
