Welcome back Chameleons, I’m now doing a real short voiceover about the history of the Kingston Flyer, Steam Train, and Queenstown. 1862 – Gold was discovered in the Wakatipu District and there was a need to connect the district during that time by steamships and trains. The most common/popular one is the TTS Earnslaw. 1878 – Railway Line at least reached Kingston on July 10th of that year. In the 1050s, train services were replaced by buses and passengers. The Express Passenger steam train was known as “The Flyer”
Thanks to FireTheLier for this trip away as this was well deserved since we both not been to the South Island and it’s crazy since I’m born and bred as NZ Kiwi.
