FOUNDER STORY

Why I Started Aspie Answers

A personal journey — from feeling different and unseen, to creating a calm, neurodivergent-friendly space where people can feel understood, supported, and not alone.

Aspie Answers didn’t start as a business — it started as a need.

A need for understanding. A need for clarity. A need for support that actually made sense.

For a long time, I felt like I was navigating a world that wasn’t built for how my mind works. Things that seemed simple to others often felt overwhelming, confusing, or exhausting — and the support available didn’t always reflect that reality.

Over time, I realised something important:

I wasn’t alone — but the support often made people feel like they were.

“I built the platform I needed when I was younger — clear, calm, and neurodivergent-friendly.”

💜 My Story in Brief

Growing up, I knew I experienced the world differently.

Sounds, lights, emotions, and social expectations didn’t always land the same way for me as they seemed to for others. Things that looked simple on the outside could feel confusing, overwhelming, or exhausting behind the scenes.

For a long time, I carried quiet questions:

Why do I struggle in some areas but thrive in others?
Why does everything feel so intense sometimes?

Eventually, I discovered I am autistic — and later learned more about ADHD and other forms of neurodivergence.

That moment didn’t “fix” anything — but it gave me something I had been missing for years:

Understanding. Language. Permission to be myself.

But it also showed me something else.

So many of the resources available were:

  • too clinical
  • too overwhelming
  • or simply not made for how neurodivergent minds actually process information

And that’s where the idea for Aspie Answers began.

I didn’t just want information — I wanted support that felt clear, calm, and human.

🌿 Why This Platform Matters

Over time, I began to notice something deeper.

So many neurodivergent people — especially teens, adults, parents, and carers — are navigating systems that don’t always understand them.

Support often assumes:

  • everyone processes information the same way
  • everyone communicates the same way
  • everyone experiences the world at the same level

But that’s not reality.

From my own lived experience, I know how confusing, invalidating, and isolating that can feel.

You’re told to “just ask for help”… But the help itself doesn’t always fit how your brain works.

  • ignores sensory overload
  • doesn’t consider masking
  • overlooks executive function challenges
  • or feels unrealistic for everyday life

That’s why I created Aspie Answers.

To build a space that is:

  • grounded in real-life experience
  • shaped by understanding, not assumptions
  • designed to be clear, calm, and accessible

A place where you don’t have to choose between clinical knowledge and lived experience — because both matter, and both deserve to be understood together.

“If one person feels less confused or more understood after being here, then this work matters.”

🌱 What I Hope Aspie Answers Offers

Aspie Answers isn’t just about information — it’s about how that information feels when you receive it.

My hope is that this space offers something different.

Something calmer. Something clearer. Something that actually makes sense.

  • a space where you don’t feel overwhelmed by too much information
  • somewhere you can take things at your own pace
  • support that feels practical, not unrealistic
  • and where your experiences are understood, not questioned

Whether you’re trying to understand yourself, supporting someone else, or simply looking for guidance that feels more relatable — I hope you find something here that helps, even in a small way.

Because sometimes, small moments of understanding can make the biggest difference.

This space was created with care — and it will continue to grow with that same intention.

🎙️ Talks, Conversations & Inspiration

I don’t believe in learning alone.

A lot of the way I understand the world — and the way I create Aspie Answers — has been shaped by listening, reflecting, and learning from others.

From lived experiences to shared conversations, these moments have helped me see things more clearly — not just for myself, but for how I support others too.

  • listening to real stories
  • hearing different perspectives
  • learning from lived experience and shared knowledge
  • reflecting on what truly helps

These aren’t just resources — they’re part of an ongoing journey of understanding.

And that journey is something I’m still learning from every day.

💜 Favourite Moments Along the Way

These are the moments that remind me why I keep going — even on the tired, overwhelming, or uncertain days.

  • a message from someone who finally feels understood
  • someone saying “this makes sense now”
  • a quiet moment of connection
  • sharing resources that help people feel less alone
  • seeing someone understand themselves in a new way
  • knowing something I created made even a small difference

Those moments matter more than anything else.

Because behind every resource, page, and conversation — there’s a real person just trying to understand themselves and be understood.

💜 You Are Not Alone

If you take nothing else from this page, take this:

You are not too much.
You are not “too sensitive.”
You are not broken.

If you’ve ever felt misunderstood, overwhelmed by things others don’t seem to notice, exhausted from trying to keep up, or unsure where you fit — please know you are not alone in that experience.

There are others who feel the same way. There are ways to understand yourself better. And there is support that can actually meet you where you are.

You deserve to feel understood — not explained away.

🌿 Calm Corner

If this page brought up emotions, memories, or thoughts — take a moment here.

Pause.
Take a breath.
There’s no rush.

You don’t need to process everything at once.

You can come back to this page whenever you need to.
You can take what helps — and leave what doesn’t.

This space is here for you — at your pace, in your way.

Thank you for taking the time to read this part of my journey.
