Getting Started
Helpful answers for visitors who are new to the Companion Universe.
What is the Aspie Answers Companion Universe?
It is a growing collection of officially approved companion characters who help visitors explore planning, learning, emotional wellbeing, daily living, independence, rest, growth and other parts of Aspie Answers.
Where should I begin?
You can begin with the Welcome page, explore the Companion Universe Map, meet the companions, or use Explore by Goal to start with the kind of help you need.
Do I need to learn about every companion first?
No. You can meet one companion, choose one team, follow one goal or begin with a resource that feels relevant today.
Is the Companion Universe only for children?
No. The companions can support resources for children, teenagers, adults, families, educators, support workers and professionals. The tone and design may change depending on the audience.
About the Official Companions
Answers about identities, roles and official profile guides.
How many official Version 1 companions are there?
There are fourteen official Version 1 companions: Checklist Cat, Busy Bee, Buzzy Brain, Scout, Finn Fox, Olive Owl, Twinkle Owl, Ollie Octopus, Luna Bunny, Calendar Cat, Toby Turtle, Maple Cat, Hope the Dove and Flutter Butterfly.
Does every companion have a different role?
Yes. Each companion has their own personality, strengths, core role and areas where they help. Some roles overlap naturally when companions collaborate.
What information will be included on a companion profile page?
Profiles may include a biography, personality, favourite saying, superpower, fun facts, areas they help with, where visitors may find them, team membership and related resources.
Where does the information for each profile come from?
The full official companion guide acts as the master reference. Website profile content is carefully extracted from that guide rather than invented separately.
Will the official companions be redesigned later?
The Version 1 designs are locked. A future Version 2 redesign would only happen if it were deliberately planned and approved. Until then, the official profile references remain the source of truth.
Companion Teams
How the companions work together around shared purposes.
What are the five official Version 1 teams?
The official teams are Everyday Planning, Emotional Wellbeing, Learning and Education, Daily Living and Independence, and Growth and Future.
Can companions work with members of another team?
Yes. Teams provide a clear starting structure, but companions may work together across teams when a guide, resource or topic needs a mix of strengths.
Will more teams be added later?
Possibly. Future teams may be created when there is enough completed artwork, content and resources to justify a clear shared purpose.
Are the team banners the official character references?
No. Team banners are illustrative scenes. The approved individual Version 1 profile artwork always takes precedence if a banner contains minor artistic differences.
Resources, Guides and Downloads
How companions may appear in practical Aspie Answers resources.
What kinds of resources may feature the companions?
Companions may appear in planners, calendars, checklists, worksheets, guides, workbooks, journals, posters, cards, activities, books, printable packs and future interactive tools.
Will every resource use all fourteen companions?
No. Resources should feature the companion or team whose role best matches the topic, audience and purpose.
Will resources be available in different editions?
Where practical, resources may later have Classic, Companion, Kawaii, Family, Teacher, Support Worker, Large Print, Easy Read, Low Ink, Black and White or interactive editions.
Where can I find current resources?
Use the Aspie Answers Resource and Downloads Library to browse available and developing collections.
Will some resources be free and others paid?
Yes. The long-term library may include free downloads, premium resources, books, workbooks and products offered through the website or supported platforms.
Website and Navigation
How the Companion Universe connects with the wider Aspie Answers website.
Will companions only appear inside the Companion Universe Hub?
No. You may also meet them throughout relevant website hubs, resources, blog content, services, workshops, books and future projects.
Why are only some Companion Universe pages shown in the main Header menu?
The Header menu is designed to stay simple and welcoming. Supporting pages, individual profiles, teams and future sections can be reached through internal links and the larger Mega Menu.
What is the difference between the Header menu and the Mega Menu?
The Header menu provides a small number of clear starting points. The Mega Menu contains the deeper website structure and detailed page pathways.
Will page links and menu positions change while the website is audited?
Some pages may be renamed, moved, merged or polished as the full website audit continues. Redirects and internal links should be reviewed whenever final locations change.
Parents, Families, Educators and Professionals
Audience pathways for finding relevant companions and resources.
Will there be a Parents and Families page?
Yes. Audience pages can gather family routines, communication tools, planning resources, emotional support and relevant companion collections in one place.
Will there be resources for teachers and educators?
Yes. Planned pathways may include classroom tools, visual supports, learning resources, activity packs and inclusive educational guidance.
Will support workers and professionals have their own pathway?
Yes. This can include communication tools, support planning, meeting resources, daily living support and practical materials for working together.
Can one resource be useful for more than one audience?
Yes. A resource may be suitable for several audiences, but the website should clearly explain who it was designed for and how it can be used.
Accessibility and Inclusive Design
How the website aims to support different access needs.
Is the Companion Universe designed with accessibility in mind?
Yes. Page layouts aim to use clear headings, readable spacing, strong contrast, descriptive links, meaningful alt text, large touch targets and responsive designs.
Can the FAQ page be used with a keyboard?
Yes. The search box, category links, disclosure questions and navigation buttons are designed to be keyboard accessible.
What happens for visitors who prefer reduced motion?
The page respects reduced-motion preferences and removes non-essential reveal and smooth-scrolling effects.
Will there be Easy Read, Large Print or low-ink resources?
These are planned future editions for suitable resources. They should be developed carefully rather than automatically applied to every item.
Will audio and translation options be added?
Voice, audio, text-to-speech and multilingual options are planned for a later development phase after the core website is stable.
Future Projects
Planned growth after the Version 1 website foundation is complete.
Will specialist companions be added?
Yes, but only after the official fourteen companion guides and core asset library are sufficiently complete. Specialists will be introduced one at a time through the same production pipeline.
What kinds of specialist companions are planned?
Possible future roles include communication, budgeting, healthy eating, travel, creativity, work, nature, technology, music, movement and other specialist topics.
Will there be companion stories and adventures?
Yes. Stories, adventures, learning scenarios and activity-based experiences are planned for later creative phases.
Are apps and animation part of the plan?
Yes. Future plans include companion-based apps, gentle animation, interactive activities, audio and other accessible experiences after the core website is refined.
What is the Human Character Library?
It is a planned collection of semi-realistic human characters who can provide relatable real-world examples while the companions remain the primary guides.
Official Design and Creative Rules
How visual consistency is protected across future artwork.
What parts of each companion are permanently locked?
The official face, species, colours, fur or feather markings, body proportions, gender, core accessories, personality and core role remain fixed.
What may change in future illustrations?
Pose, expression, clothing where appropriate, props, background and seasonal context may change while the companion remains recognisable and consistent.
What happens if a future banner looks slightly different from a profile page?
The approved profile page always wins. Banners are supporting scenes and do not replace the official character reference.
Will there be a Companion Universe Style Guide?
Yes. The Style Guide will become the single internal source of truth for visual consistency across the website, books, apps, resources, animation and future artwork.
Support, Crisis Information and Contact
Important distinctions between friendly guidance and professional support.
Do the companions replace professional support?
No. The companions are educational and supportive guides. They do not replace healthcare professionals, emergency services, qualified support providers or personalised professional advice.
Will the companions appear throughout the Crisis Support Hub?
Usually not as the main visual focus. Crisis pages should remain direct, serious and centred on immediate safety, emergency information and professional support. Companions may appear carefully in preventative coping or grounding resources.
Where can I find organisations and ongoing support options?
Use the Support and Directories area for organisations, services, community support, advocacy and other ongoing pathways.
How can I ask a question that is not answered here?
Use the Aspie Answers contact pathway, or return to the Companion Universe Hub and explore the related pages while the FAQ continues to grow.
