North Island Support Directory

Explore mental health, crisis, disability, family, health, professional and community support across Te Ika-a-Māui / the North Island. Choose a region on the interactive map or use the same options in the accessible finder below.

Need urgent help? If someone is in immediate danger in New Zealand, call 111. For emotional support, call or text 1737 (24/7). For local crisis assessment teams, start with the NZ Crisis Support Directory. This website is not an emergency service.
A gentle place to start: You can browse at your own pace. Some linked pages discuss distress, disability, family pressures and safety. Ask services about access needs, interpreters, culturally responsive support or including whānau if you wish. Not every type of support is emergency or clinical care.

Choose your North Island region

Select a regional marker on the live map, or use the region buttons beside it. Both options set the same region filter; there is no need to use the map if it is difficult to access.

Map markers indicate approximate regional centres, not official regional boundaries or provider locations. Basemap data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

North Island regions and local pathways

The nine North Island regions are included below. Select “Show on map” to highlight a regional centre. “Find existing pages” opens a site search for that region; it does not pretend that a particular local page has been verified.

Support for families, whānau and carers

Visitors can start with a support topic or with the person they are helping — babies, children, teenagers, adults, elders, family members or someone needing accessible care. Māori, Pasifika, migrant, refugee and Rainbow support deserve culturally responsive, identity-affirming choices.

Doctors, clinical care and accessible services

For non-urgent medical concerns, contact a GP or local health service. Mental health assessments and specialist care may require referral. Ask about appointment costs, referrals, interpreters, communication adjustments and telehealth. This directory provides pathways; it does not claim that every individual provider is listed or verified here.

Using the North Island directory

Do I have to use the map? No. All nine region buttons and regional cards offer alternatives. Can I look for someone else? Yes — select an audience or browse family/carer routes. What if a link does not lead to a local directory? Some regional links open an Aspie Answers site search until that specific page address is confirmed. What if I need help right now? Use 111 for immediate danger and the NZ crisis directory for local crisis services.

Service details and crisis phone numbers may change. Confirm urgent contacts with official providers before relying on them. This page is informational and does not replace medical, legal or emergency advice.
